Foothills County encompasses a diverse rural landscape covering approximately 3,600 square kilometres located in the foothills of southern Alberta.  Foothills County is inviting applications for a seasonal spray truck operator to work with our Agricultural Services Department.

This position is responsible for the herbicide application for weeds/invasive plants and brush control within Foothills County.  The successful candidate must have a valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s Licence and a valid Pesticide Applicator Certificate.

General Accountability:
The spray truck operator will be responsible for the herbicide application for weed/invasive plants and brush control within the Foothills County.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
 Perform herbicide application for brush in the spring.
 Perform herbicide application for weed/invasive plants control and manual removal of weeds in summer.
 Perform hydroseeding and brushing within County right of ways and properties.
 Aid with routine equipment maintenance.
 Keep equipment and vehicles clean.
 Repair and maintenance of rental equipment.
 Adhere at all times to all pertinent safety laws, legislation, policies and operating procedures.
 Able to work in a team environment and/or work independently.
 Performs other duties as assigned from time to time.

Qualifications/Education and/or Experience:
 Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License.
 Valid Pesticide Applicator Certificate.
 Knowledge of the Weed Control Act, invasive plants and animals, and the Environmental Code of Practice for Pesticides in Alberta.
 Working knowledge of equipment maintenance.
 Good communication and written skills.
 Ability to interact with the general public in a polite and courteous manner.

Physical Demands:
 Walking and standing for periods of time.
 Working in a variety of weather conditions.
 Some heavy lifting involved.
