Position Summary
Reporting to the Agricultural Services Coordinator, the Weed Inspector is a seasonal field position primarily responsible for performing weed and pest inspections on private and public lands in accordance with the Weed Control Act, Agricultural Pest Act and County policies.

Position Responsibilities
- Safe operation of County vehicles and equipment such as pickup trucks, ATV/UTVs and trailers;
- Conduct agricultural pest inspections;
- Assist with weed control on County lands;
- Inspect private, industrial and municipal lands for weed infestation advising landowners of weed problems and potential control methods;
- Conduct re-inspections of weed problem areas;
- Develop weekly and daily inspection plans and contacts landowners regarding plans;
- Complete weed inspection reports and detailed weed infestation maps as required;
- Keep informed on weed and pest identification and control methods; and
- Complete all other duties as assigned.
Qualification, Knowledge, Skill & Ability Requirements
- Valid Class 5 (or equivalent) Driver’s License with fewer than 6 demerits;
- Completion of Defensive Driving;
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent;
- Must be 18 years of age or older;
- Valid Standard First Aid/CPR;
- Physical aptitude and ability to safely lift to a maximum of 50lbs;
- Excellent documentation skills; and
- Strong computer skills, verbal and written communication skills and problem solving skills
Working Environment
- 70% of work duties are conducted outdoors in all weather conditions;
- 30% of work duties are administrative;
- Potential interaction with domestic and/or wild animals;
- Physical exertion and extensive walking required;
- Occasional use and exposure to herbicides;
- Public contact may be confrontational; and
- Frequent and/or daily driving required.
The hourly wage is $23.96 to $26.08. This is a seasonal position. Position dates are approximately May 4, 2026 to August 28, 2026.
This position is based out of Wildwood with travel throughout Yellowhead County as required.
IMPORTANT NOTE:Applicants must include a cover letter, resume, 2 written references and driver's abstract to be considered for an interview. Defensive Driving completion is required (5 year validity).
Successful applicants will be required to provide a Police Information Check with satisfactory results.
