    Reporting to the Manager, Agriculture Services, this position is responsible for tasks to Agriculture out of the Fort Assiniboine Office.  The Technician is involved in the roadside spraying and seeding program, weed inspection, and responding to pest control requests.  Duties may include operating equipment, performing general labour and maintaining County-owned property.

    This is a temporary position available until the return of an employee on medical leave.

    Interested in a diverse and rewarding outdoor job this summer? Well, the Starland County Agricultural Service Board may have a job for you.

    We are currently looking for 3 General Agricultural Labourer’s with the board. Duties will include but are not limited to the following:

    • Tree planting
    • Grass seeding
    • Shelterbelt pest control
    • Weed and brush inspection and herbicide application
    • Invasive species management
    • Conducting pest survey’s
    • Rental equipment transportation and set up within Starland County.

    The successful candidates will possess a valid class 5 licence and have experience operating a 1 ton truck &utility/flat bed trailer, be able or willing to learn to operate equipment such as a 60hp tractor, ATV’s & UTVs, and have a working knowledge of weeds and responsible herbicide and pesticide use. Must be able to lift 23 kg. Consideration will be given to candidates who are currently enrolled in agricultural related training and to those with a valid pesticide applicator licence or willing to obtain required certifications/licences. Employment will commence on or near May 1st and end approximately August 31st, 2026.

    Employees are responsible for full cooperation with all aspects of the health and safety program, including compliance with all rules and regulations, and for continually practicing safety while performing their duties. Starland County has a Substance Abuse Prevention Policy in place as a reflection of our commitment to protect the health and safety of employees, co-workers, the general public and the environment. In accordance with this policy, Pre-Employment drug and alcohol testing is required prior to commencing employment as well as a drivers abstract to be pulled.
