The Municipal District of Bonnyville No. 87 invites applications for Noxious Weed Inspectors (Seasonal). The successful candidates will be responsible to inspect, enforce and control designated noxious and prohibited weeds, according to the Alberta Weed Control Act.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and implement the municipalities Noxious Weed Control Program.
- Completing crop, weed, and pest surveys.
- Complete annual weed inspections on public and private land.
- Work with agricultural producers to control noxious field weeds.
- Keep a daily log of all areas sprayed and/or inspected.
- General labour and yard duties.
- Perform other related duties within the scope of the position as required.
Qualifications:
· Hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license in good standing.
- Possess basic knowledge of modern agricultural production practices.
- A Pesticide Applicator’s License and/or a good understanding of weeds would be considered an asset.
- Formal technical training/education in Agronomy would be considered an asset.
- Ability to work as part of a team or with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to respond to inquiries.
- Must provide a Criminal Record Check with satisfactory results.
